Valencia region might be the most familiar of our key partner regions to Yorkshire people because of its proximity to the holiday destinations on the Spanish Costas. Like Yorkshire folk, 'Valencianos' have a very clear sense of their own regional identity and have their own dialect, own regional cooking and customs. It is also a region of immense character and beauty known as 'The Garden of Spain'.

- The Valencia region is now home to 'The City of Light', the biggest, newest and best film production studios in Europe. This 250 million euro facility is being used to shoot a full-length feature, directed by Roman Polanski, about the dramatic events of the eruption of Vesuvius and the effects on the roman city of Pompeii. These studios were built in an area that did not have 'local film talent', hence the creation of the Film School.
- The Film School is only in its 3rd year and keen on collaboration, already working with the London Film School and film schools in New York and Cuba to support new talent and offer opportunities.
- The Regional Government is very supportive of innovative schemes that mix new technology with business partnerships. As part of planning for these new developments informed decisions are made by scientific 'foresight exercises', a sign of the approach taken by the region as a whole.
- A new scheme is in place in the region to encourage companies to move to the area and employ new talent in their media industries. Leading the way is an organisation called iTEAM, a collaboration of Universities who want to ease the transition into the real world of the workplace.
